Egg hunt warning issued by country park

Visitors to a hotel and country park are being warned to ignore Easter eggs that have been left around the grounds.

A number of the plastic eggs have been left at Coventry City Council-owned Coombe Abbey Park, it said.

The eggs contain a code "which takes you to a gambling website", the attraction posted on its Facebook site.

"Please ignore the eggs and if you can just drop them off in a bin," it added.

The hotel and gardens are owned by Coventry City Council

"If you find the egg and open it, you will see £1.00 credit with an invite to scan a code 'to be in with a chance of winning £300.00'", it said on the post.

The attraction said it was a member of the public that first alerted them to the eggs.

It called on the website's owners to stop.

The popular park is home to 500 acres of woodland, gardens and lakeside walks.
